The research group ORSTAT (Operations Research & Business Statistics) of KU Leuven (Belgium) has a vacancy for one full-time PhD scholarship for the period of September 21, 2015, until September 20, 2019, for scientific research in the field of operations research (O.R.). This work should lead to a PhD degree under the supervision of prof. Roel Leus (http://feb.kuleuven.be/roel.leus/public/). The candidate will work in the general area of resource scheduling and planning. Some key words of our research domain are: combinatorial optimization, mathematical programming, scheduling, resource allocation, algorithm design, ... You will find a dynamic and pleasant working environment, in a group that is actively involved in scientific research at the highest international level.

Candidates should have a strong interest in operations research and preferably hold a Master's degree in Business Engineering (Handelsingenieur), Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Econometrics, Economics or Industrial Engineering. An average degree of “distinction” during preliminary studies is an advantage, as well as an appropriate command of written and spoken English. The start of the scholarship coincides with the start of the academic year 2015-2016. Conditional on positive intermediate evaluations, the PhD position lasts for four years, and all work is carried out at the Faculty of Economics and Business of KU Leuven. During this time, the candidate can also be asked to take up a limited amount (approx. 10% of the time) of teaching activities. For further information, please send an e-mail to [email protected]

Interested candidates should supply an application letter with motivation, a curriculum vitae, and the listings of their exam results, and this as early as possible, certainly by the deadline of March 31, 2015.
