Discrete-time buffer systems with varying input and output characteristics
Abstract
Abstract: A discrete-time puffer system with infinite waiting room and one single output channel, subjected to random interruptions is considered. As opposed to the usual assumptions for this kind of system, the arrival stream of messages to the buffer and the output interruption process need not be “stationary”. Instead the buffer system operates in a two-state environment with hypergeometric sojourn times for the environment states. A queueing analysis of the system is given, along with some possible applications.
