About the conference

ORBEL 35 is the 35th conference of ORBEL, the Belgian Operational Research (OR) Society, Member of EURO, the association of European OR Societies, and Belgian representative of IFORS (International Federation of OR Societies).

The conference is intended as a meeting place for researchers, users and potential users of Operational Research, Statistics, Computer Science and related fields. It will provide managers, practitioners and researchers with a unique opportunity to exchange information on quantitative techniques for decision making.

Unfortunately, corona forced us to cancel the 35th ORBEL conference, which was to be held in 2021. However, instead of this conference, a series of small online workshops will be organized.

Each of these workshops, which we have called "corona sessions", will consist of 4 to 5 talks, mainly given by PhD students or early-stage researchers. Each session may also include a keynote presentation by an established researcher. Typically, a session will also have a theme. Sessions will generally take place on a Friday afternoon, between 13.00 and 15:00 and will follow the typical conference format (15 minutes presentation time + 5 minutes for questions).

If you are interested in organizing one of these corona sessions, send an email to [email protected] Organizing a session involves:

  • Choosing a theme for the session
  • Finding four to five speakers for this session, at most one of which is a keynote speaker.
